GRANULAR is a non-profit organization, founded in 2002 by Paulo Raposo, Carlos “Zíngaro”, Carlos Santos, Rui Eduardo Paes and Emídio Buchinho, dedicated to the promotion, divulgence, development and investigation of experimental art in its’ different forms, such as music, sound art, performance, mixed media and the visual arts. The association also has the following objectives:

- Systematizing artistic offer in its’ various aspects, in order to encompass the Portuguese and the world’s outstanding output;

  1. -Conjugation of national and international artists, promoting first encounters;

  2. -Presenting recognized artists who previously had little or no opportunity to exhibit their work in Portugal;

  3. -Revealing emerging national artists, providing them with regular opportunities to develop and show their work;

  4. -Forming a new discerning public by means of aesthetically diverse programs, presented in a professional fashion, with focused appealing criteria, announcing these events in the pertinent media;

  5. -Searching for projects that are comprehensive and include a number of artistic languages, without discriminating genres, musical styles or any other style;

  6. -Privileging artistic projects that use new technologies with an experimental or research nature;

  7. -Promoting transdisciplinary approaches, as well as the collaborations between artists of different areas;

  8. -Including in its activities formative and informative aspects intended for the general public, as well as the artistic community, by means of organized workshops, conferences and debates;

  9. -Commissioning new unreleased works, as well as fostering new musical and artistic groups.
